7132 Hotel

In Vals, you take your time. And in Vals, we lost track of time. A true retreat. As part of an artist residency, we had the opportunity to spend several days at the Therme Vals and the Hotel 7132. This gave us the time to open our eyes to the subtle and rugged details of nature and culture that change over time. Beauty changes over time. We discovered this in the rugged nature surrounding Vals and in the 60,000 stone slabs made of Vals quartzite in the spectacular thermal baths.

For the Hotel 7132's Silver restaurant, we created the following printed materials: an art book and art prints. The art book also serves as the menu and entertains guests while they wait for their meal. The menu is inserted in the center of the booklet on a paper insert. The book shows the nature surrounding the hotel, rock formations that can be discovered while hiking. The art book is printed on Gmund paper in various shades of gray, which is reminiscent of the thermal baths, which are made of Vals stone. It is printed with a metallic silver ink.

The art prints show structures from the thermal baths: deposits created by the minerals in the Vals water. They remind us of landscapes. The printing technique is risograph, so each print is unique.
