Silk Scarf Praying Hands Edition

A silk scarf that sits somewhere between an image and a wearable object: For this edition, we have translated our "Praying Hands" series onto silk in collaboration with the Japanese design label SIRI SIRI. The graphic motif changes its effect depending on the way the fabric is folded and moved, becoming a versatile piece of clothing.

The 90 × 90 cm square silk scarf can be worn as a foulard, neckerchief, or light wrap, and can be folded and draped in a variety of ways.

The scarf is crafted in a workshop in Hyogo, Japan. The print is based on the traditional Nassen technique, an early form of textile printing in which ink is applied directly to the fabric through a stencil. Today’s digital printing technology has its roots, among other things, in such methods.

In this way, "Gentle Knife" combines Japanese craftsmanship and print culture with contemporary graphic design – light, soft, and surprisingly versatile.
