Art Prints Praying Hands – Set of 3

When it gets dark, the leaves of so-called prayer plants begin to move. They fold upward, sometimes pressing so closely together that they resemble folded hands. With the first light of morning, they open once again.

This daily movement follows the plant’s natural rhythm. The best-known prayer plants belong to the Marantaceae family, which originated in the tropical regions of the Americas. Their leaves are adorned with fine lines, dots, and geometric designs—patterns that seem more crafted than grown.

Depending on the species, the combinations of deep green tones, light patches, and delicate leaf veins vary greatly. In the interplay of light and shadow, these designs shift in appearance. Each leaf resembles its own graphic image, appearing almost hand-drawn with its own unique structure.

"Praying Hands" focuses on this unusual connection between movement and pattern: plants whose leaves close every evening and open again every morning. A silent, daily recurring movement that gave them their name.
