Before the people of the Jin dynasty ventured into the mountains, they followed certain rituals to prepare for their encounter with nature. From today's perspective, some of these rituals may seem unusual. For the people of that time, they were an expression of humility and respect towards nature.
"Into Mountains" explores this relationship between humans and nature and the question of what remains of it today. While nature is increasingly viewed as a resource and exploited, awareness of our own dependence on it seems to be receding further and further into the background.
We believe that we can learn from nature again – not only to use it, but to perceive, appreciate, and protect it. Together with all the special beings with whom we share this planet.
The book "Into Mountains" was awarded the Emerging Artist Prize of the Musée des beaux-arts in Le Locle (MBAL) as part of the Triennial of Contemporary Printmaking. The exhibition "Into Mountains: Wear Your Mirror" was created from the book and was on display at the MBAL from 22.10.2022 to 26.02.2023.
