Large-format art print Into Mountains N° 2

This series of limited-edition art prints was created for our exhibition "Into Mountains: Wear Your Mirror" at the Musée des beaux-arts Le Locle (MBAL). The works are part of an installation that emerged from our book of the same name, "Into Mountains".

The book and exhibition explore the rituals and protective symbols that people in ancient China used before venturing into the mountains. During the Chinese Jin Dynasty (265–420 AD), mountains were not just landscapes, but places filled with unknown powers, deities, and dangers. Those who entered this world did not do so without preparation.

Building on these historical concepts, "Into Mountains" addresses the changing relationship between humans and nature. What was once experienced as a powerful and partly threatening world beyond human control is today often viewed as a resource to be used and exploited. The works combine historical concepts with a contemporary examination of our relationship with nature.

The large-format art prints are limited to 10 copies each and are individually screen-printed by hand in Zurich. Multiple overlapping layers of color create a special sense of depth and give the prints an intense luminosity.
